Pa. amusement park lists free-fall ride for sale

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania amusement park is hoping someone takes the plunge and buys one of its rides.

Kennywood amusement park is selling the Pitt Fall drop ride whose tower looms over the West Mifflin park. The black and gold Pitt Fall ride is being listed for sale by Wildwood, N.J.-based International Rides Management. No price is given.

A spokesman for the park says Kennywood is exploring a possible sale but hasn’t made a decision on its future. Spokesman Jeff Filicko says the ride could still be in the park next season or replaced with a new ride.

Pitt Fall lifts riders more than 250 feet up and sends them hurtling back down at 65 mph. The ride was the tallest such attraction in the world when it opened in 1997.
