Seminar will focus on info-tech careers

The Young Women Committed to Action group in Youngstown and National College will host a free seminar on good-paying and stable career options in the field of information technology.

The event will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave.

Topics include network server and client administration, microcomputer hardware technology and implementing and troubleshooting operating systems.

Chamber will host quarterly breakfast

The Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce will host its quarterly breakfast at 8 a.m. June 29 at The Globe Restaurant, located inside Truck World Mall, 6965 Truck World Blvd.

OSS to do security for V&M’s new site

WARREN

Warren-based OSS, Inc. recently announced that it has contracted with V&M Star to provide security services for V&M’s new $650 million expansion site in Youngstown.

OSS staffs more than 2,000 security officers to more than 1,000 customers in Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania.

Seminar puts focus on manufacturers

YOUNGSTOWN

MAGNET and WIRE-Net, two Northeast Ohio manufacturing advocacy nonprofits, will host a seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 28 about how Northeast Ohio manufacturers can develop access and sales opportunities in new or growing industrial marketplaces.

Registration and networking will start at 8 a.m. at the Williamson College of Business Conference Center at Youngstown State University.

There is a $20 fee to register, which covers the cost of breakfast and lunch.

$1.5M grant will aid foreclosure services

COLUMBUS

The Ohio Housing Finance Agency was recently awarded $1.5 million to continue foreclosure counseling and prevention services statewide.

The National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program awarded the grant, which was created by Congress in 2007 to help at-risk families.

Doug Garver, executive director for OHFA, said the funds will help an estimated 5,000 distressed Ohio homeowners.

OHFA has received more than $9 million in NFMC funding since April 2008.

Nationwide, about $68 million in funding is expected to help 184,000 families.
