Picnic observes 50th anniversary for the Perrys

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Perry Sr. of Boardman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family June 12 during a picnic at Boardman Township Park.

Hosts for the event were their sons, Roy Perry Jr. of Boardman and Kevin Perry of Seattle. The Perrys also are the grandparents of three.

The Perrys were honored at a Mass celebration by Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown. They renewed their wedding vows June 5.

The couple also received a note of congratulations for their 50th anniversary from President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.

The former Eleanor Malarcik and Mr. Perry were married June 17, 1961, at St. Lucy Church in Campbell.

The Perrys are members of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Boardman.

Mrs. Perry is a registered nurse at Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic in Youngstown.

She also has worked at hospitals in Youngstown, Salem, Atlanta and Salisbury, Md.

Mr. Perry is a retired pharmacist. He has worked at local pharmacies and ones in Atlanta and Salisbury.
