Children host luncheon for Semivans’ 50th

AUSTINTOWN

Richard and Carolyn Semivan of Austintown were honored for their 50th wedding anniversary June 12 during a Mass and blessing at St. Joseph Church in Austintown and a luncheon at Michael Alberini’s in Boardman.

The blessing was given by the Rev. Gregory Fedor. Hosts of the luncheon were the couple’s children and their spouses, Jeffrey and Marianne Semivan of Highland Heights, Ohio, David and Heidi Semivan of Munroe Falls, Ohio, and Stephen Semivan and Cari Swenson Miller of Littleton, Colo.

The couple’s family includes five grandchildren, Jena, Drew and Abbey Semivan, and Nick and Jake Swenson.

The former Carolyn Absalom and Mr. Semivan were married June 10, 1961, at St. Edward Church in Youngstown.

Mr. Semivan, who retired in 2000 from U.S. Steel McDonald Works and Republic Steel/Warren Consolidated as an electrician, served two years in the United States Marine Corps. He is a member of the Saxon Club, YMCA and the Spiritual Life Committee.

The couple are members of St. Joseph Church and are eucharistic ministers.

Mrs. Semivan retired in 2010 from Austintown Local Schools as secretary/general manager of Channel 19. She is also a member of Mahoning Valley Machine Knitters Guild, a card club and golf leagues.
