The PTA have been organizing Robinwood Elementary’s Fun Day for more than 10 years now and event organizers Stephanie Reagan and Nicole Hagerty have admitted that the only thing they dislike about the day is if they see any student waiting around and not having fun.

“We learned a lot from last year’s event – we didn’t include enough events. With ‘fun’ in the name of our celebration, I think it’s our responsibility to make sure the kids are having a blast every minute of the day,” Reagan shared.

This year, the PTA included eight different activity areas to make sure the students were always entertained and occupied. Organized by grades, the Robinwood students enjoyed tug-of-wars, kickball, parachute games, corn hole, bounce castles and jump rope and hula hoop games.

One station offered a collection of fun “Minute to Win It” games, including one called “Sticky Situation,” where the kids had to bounce a ping-pong ball to land on a slice of bread slathered with marshmallow fluff.

However, the consensus among the students was that the dunk tank was the favorite part of the day.

“The dunk tank is a tradition at Robinwood, no matter what the year’s theme is,” Reagan explained of the appeal. “That, and the kids always get to dunk the PTA president and our principal, which is always a blast to watch.”

PTA president Nicole Hagerty’s time in the tank wasn’t due until the afternoon, so during the morning fun session, she was still at ease.

“Being dumped in the water isn’t the best sensation, but I’ll do it for the kids. Today is about keeping that party atmosphere and ending the year right, so I’ll take the dip,” Hagerty said.
