Crestview team gets grant to promote nutrition education

The Crestview Rebels Embracing Wellness Health Team has been awarded an $11,500 Ohio Department of Education USDA Team Nutrition Grant for the 2011-12 school year.

The purpose of the grant is to support a yearlong healthy eating and interactive nutrition-education program and to coordinate activities to support a healthy nutrition climate at school.

One aspect of the grant is a school garden.

The school placed large tractor tires on the east side of the elementary building to use as raised garden beds.

The school planted vegetables to harvest in the fall.

There will be opportunities throughout the summer to weed and water the garden.
