Canfield cheerleaders make college choices

Canfield High School hosted a dual ceremony June 6 in its athletic foyer in honor of senior Lexi Kaleel and Bree DeRose as they jointly announced their intentions to attend Notre Dame College and Mount Union University, respectively, next fall and compete as cheerleaders at their new schools.

Throughout high school, Kaleel has been an active member of the STC Academy cheerleading program, coached by Trisha Swisher, Shawna-cie Ott and Romell Williams.

She and her Supernova Seniors competitive cheer teammates recently took first place in an international competition held in Cincinnati.

Kaleel also served as the Canfield High School Big Red mascot as a senior.

She is the daughter of Terri and Bobbi Kaleel.

DeRose was a four-year cheerleader at CHS and captain of her squad both junior and senior years. Last summer, DeRose earned All-American cheerleader status at the Ohio State University cheerleading camp. In addition to cheering for the Purple Raiders athletic teams, she will also be competing with the Mount Union competitive cheerleading squad.

DeRose is the daughter of Lee and Cindy DeRose.
