Appeal on SB 5

YOUNGSTOWN

Atty. David Betras, Mahoning County Democratic Party chairman, asked the county commissioners Thursday to back nonrenewal of county agency memberships in the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber because of the chamber’s support of Ohio Senate Bill 5, which was signed into law and would limit some public-employee collective-bargaining rights.

An effort is under way by the group We Are Ohio to repeal the law by getting enough signatures on petitions to place it on the November ballot.

Betras’ list of county agencies belonging to the chamber included the alcohol and drug-addiction services board, mental health board, board of developmental disabilities, recycling division, educational-services center, and emergency-management agency.
