Street festival: It’s Simply Slavic

The inaugural Simply Slavic festival will be Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. on East Federal Street, downtown.
The street festival will celebrate the heritage of the Mahoning Valley’s many Slavic residents.
Organizations representing the 13 Slavic nations will set up informational heritage tables, and there will be a marketplace, folk music and dance performances, a baking contest, workshops and food.
A Slavic disco party will begin at 8:45 p.m., after the festival ends. For more information, go to simplyslavic.com.
The schedule is as follows:
Noon: Opening ceremonies, Ecumenical prayer service, Parade of Flags.
12:30 p.m.: Food tents open, Kolo dance/lessons, Mikey Dee Orchestra.
1:30 p.m.: Tamburitzans.
1:45 p.m.: Mikey Dee Orchestra.
2:45 p.m.: Ukrainian Folk Ensemble.
3 p.m.: Mikey Dee Orchestra.
4 p.m.: Polka demo/lessons.
4:15 p.m.: Slavic Baking Contest.
4:45 p.m.: Krakowiaki Polish Folk Circle.
5 p.m.: Del Sinchak Band.
6 p.m.: Living Traditions Folk Ensemble.
6:45 p.m.: Del Sinchak Band.
7:45 p.m.: Basket auction winners announced, 50-50 drawing.
8 p.m.: Del Sinchak Band.
8:45 p.m.: Slavic Disco begins.
