NYT: Weiner tells friends he is resigning today

The New York Times is reporting that U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner is telling friends that he will step down today.

The congressman has resisted calls to resign in the midst of a sexting scandal that has been a major distraction for his party for nearly three weeks.
