Medical society alliance donates to Garden of Hope

Members of the Mahoning County Medical Society Alliance presented a check for $6,000 to JoAnn Stock, development director of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, during a board meeting May 20 at Steamer’s Restaurant.

The money was the proceeds from a charity fashion show in February, and it will go to the Garden of Hope courtyard at the hospital. The garden provides patients, families and others a tranquil place to visit and reflect. The check completes a $22,500 pledge for the garden.

The Garden of Hope offers naming opportunities, including brick pavers, inscribed as the donor wishes, in honor of a child, loved one, friend, favorite nurse/physician or caregiver who was there during a difficult illness or injury.

The alliance has a mission to promote the goals of the medical society, to inform and support the medical family, and to enhance the quality of life through health education, legislation and community service throughout Mahoning County.
