Tree-trimmer knocked out 80 feet off ground

COPLAY, Pa. (AP) — A tree-trimmer had to be rescued by Pennsylvania firefighters after he was knocked unconscious 80 feet up a tree.

Tri-Clover Fire Chief Jeff Johnson said the man was cutting limbs from a large tree on a property in North Whitehall, Lehigh County when he was struck by a branch Tuesday afternoon.

Johnson says workers on the ground were lowering cut branches when a gust of wind blew one into the man in the tree. The man was lowered to the ground in a basket after a 45-minute ordeal.

Authorities did not release the man’s name. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
