FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


THURSDAY

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, serves homemade Chinese lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays. This week’s menu will feature shanghai beef or vegetable lo mein. The cost of the meal is $6. No reservations are necessary.

Woodworth Church of the Brethren, 30 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland, will sponsor a takeout meatloaf dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The cost is $7 for a meal of meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans and a cookie. Drive up to the back door to place your order, and the meal will be brought to you. FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Due to the death of Monsignor John DeMarinis, pizza sales this week at St. Anthony Church have be canceled. Sales will resume June 24.

SUNDAY

Capt. Charles M. Marino Post 3, Italian-American War Veterans, 113 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, will serve spaghetti dinners from noon to 5 p.m. The cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children 6 to 10. Those 5 and under may eat for free. Carryouts also will be available; containers can be purchased or patrons may provide their own.

MONDAY

Canfield United Methodist Church will open its doors for a summer supper preceding the Monday Concerts on the Green. The meals will be served cafeteria style from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each Monday evening beginning June 20, when the church will serve pasta and meatballs, salad, dessert and beverage for $7. Patrons can dine in or carry out.

TAKING ORDERS

Happy Hearts Jr. Croatian Tamburitzans are having a summer strudel sale. Strudels are sold frozen, ready to bake, along with instructions. They are hand-pulled dough and come in either apple or cheese. The cost is $8 each. Orders must be placed by June 23 for pickup between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. June 28 at the Croatian Home, 3200 Vestal Road, on the West Side of Youngstown. UPCOMING

Sons of the American Legion, Mahoning Valley Squadron 15, 573 N. Main St., Poland, in conjunction with Celebrate Poland, will have its third annual chicken dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. June 24. The menu will feature a half-chicken, two sides and bread. Takeout will be available, as will beverages. Tickets cost $8 and may be purchased at the door or by calling 330-757-8722. Proceeds will benefit various programs of Squadron 15.
