Trial in 2005 rape, homicide set to begin in Erie

ERIE, Pa.

Opening statements are slated Wednesday in the western Pennsylvania trial of a man accused of raping and killing a woman 51/2 years ago.

The Erie Times-News says jury selection in the trial of 32-year-old Jeffrey Norris wrapped up Monday afternoon.

Norris, of Painesville, Ohio, is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

Authorities say DNA evidence linked him to the November 2005 death of Mindy Acosta in an Erie park.
