Consumers Bancorp moves up on list of top banks
MINERVA — Consumers Bancorp Inc. jumped 67 spots on this year’s U.S. Banker magazine’s list of top community banks.
Consumers placed 107th nationally on the list of the top 200, 67 spots higher than its 174th-place finish in 2010.
“From each teller in our 11 branches to the back-office employees and management, every employee at Consumers National Bank contributed to this ranking by directly or indirectly helping customers with their credit, deposit or
investment needs,” said Ralph J. Lober, II, president and CEO of Consumers
National Bank, based in Minerva, with branches in Salem, Lisbon, Hanoverton, Alliance and Hartville.
United Bancorp Inc. in Martins Ferry checked in at No. 118, up from No. 147 in 2010. The Middle Atlantic region — Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Virginia — had 92 representatives on the list.
The national ranking is based on each bank’s three-year average return on
equity, which is annualized income divided by average equity.
