Austintown police seek man in morning robbery
AUSTINTOWN — Township police are looking for a suspect in a morning robbery today at a local check-cashing business.
Police Chief Bob Gavalier said at about 10:30 a.m. a white man in his 30s entered Check Into Cash at Mahoning and Evans avenues and demanded money.
Gavalier said the man had a black handgun and was wearing sunglasses and a white bandana over his face. He got away with an undetermined amount of money.
The chief said they are trying to determine if the robbery is connected to a Saturday afternoon robbery at the Check Into Cash store on U.S. Route 224 in Boardman.
The suspect in that incident, who got away with nearly $2,000, was also a white male carrying a black handgun, according to a Boardman police report.
