Vollmers mark 60th anniversary at family dinner

YOUNGSTOWN

Eugene and Harriet L. Vollmer of Youngstown are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today with their family at TJ’s in Boardman.

Hosting the event are the couple’s children, Deborah L. Vollmer of Youngstown; David E. Vollmer of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; and Karen S. Vollmer of Buena Park, Calif.

Mr. and Mrs. Vollmer also have four grandchildren.

On June 9, 1951, the former Harriet L. Berndt and Mr. Vollmer exchanged wedding vows in Youngstown.

Mrs. Vollmer worked as a bottler for Pepsi Cola before retiring in 1989.

Mr. Vollmer worked as a letter carrier and in maintenance for the U.S. Postal Service before he retired in 1979. He is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and he belongs to a letter carrier retirees club.

The couple are members of Mahoning United Methodist Church.
