Scott Barnes, 48, of Conneaut, Ohio, was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Friday on a curve on state Route 58 in Greene Township. Police said Barnes hit a billboard post and was thrown from the motorcycle.

The Salvation Army and Feed the Children are joining forces to distribute food, box of Avon products, and personal items.

Applications will be taken from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave.

Clients must have children 18 and under in their home to qualify, and must provide a valid picture ID for all adults in the home, birth certificates for children (proof of guardianship), Mahoning County Job and Family Services printout. The distribution will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 24.

Celebrity guest will be Youngstown native Brad Smith, who plays professional football for the New York Jets. Smith is a Chaney High School graduate.

Nature walk

GREENVILLE, Pa.

A one-hour nature walk, the first of a series of programs by the Mercer County Conservation District in cooperation with the Greenville YMCA at Riverside Park, will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Participants are to meet at Greenville Riverside Park Nature Center on Memorial Drive.

Learn about various plant and animal species during the walk from the two environmental educators while strolling on the trails by the Shenango River. For details, call 724-662-2242 and ask for Jacqueline or Chris. Space is limited.
