Youngstown police probe assaults of Hubbard man, 16-year-old girl
YOUNGSTOWN
Police are investigating two assaults that injured two people.
Police found a Hubbard man walking along Market Street at 2:40 a.m. Friday covered in blood with a long gash in his head and an apparent broken nose.
The 20-year-old Hubbard man told police he was in the parking lot of the South Side Annex on Market Street after midnight when he was attacked by two men. He told officers that he did not know the men who attacked him but did note that one man was black and the other was white.
The victim told police the white man punched him in the face knocking him to the ground. The black male he said repeatedly kicked him in the face and stomach.
Two people who witnessed the attack provided police with names of the two men involved in the beating. Police noted the names, but no arrests have been made.
Police also were called to the 2600 block of Tyrell Avenue just before midnight Thursday for a reported attack on a 16-year-old girl. The girl’s mother told police the teen had been beaten by several adult females and one boy.
The mother said her daughter went outside to get a CD out of the car but did not return right away. The 33-year-old woman said she looked outside to check on her daughter and saw the girl lying on the ground with several people kicking and punching her.
The mother went on to tell police the melee was the result of an incident the night before in which the teen accused one of the women of throwing eggs at the mother’s residence. The two were involved in a physical altercation at that time, but it was quickly broken up.
When officers arrived at the home Thursday, they found the teen had marks and bruises to her head area and she complained of pain in the area of her ribs. The girl also said she was short of breath.
She was taken to a nearby hospital for observation.
