Police, K-9 unit in Boardman search for armed robbery suspect

Police are investigating an armed robbery today at the Check into Cash on U.S. Route 224 in the Boardman Plaza.

Boardman Capt. Don Lamping said the robbery happened at 12:48 p.m.

Lamping said a man walked in and pulled a gun on the clerk. He said no one was hurt, and he doesn’t know how much money the robber stole.

He said shortly before 3 p.m. that police had a K-9 unit out tracking the suspect earlier, but did not find him. Lamping said the suspect was on foot “for a short time,” but he would not say whether someone else picked up the man.

He would not give a description of the suspect. Investigating officers were still at the scene, he said, and he did not have an official report or more information.
