New Castle police moving to larger space
Staff report
new castle, pa.
The police department is moving in August from its old quarters in the municipal building on North Jefferson Street to a bigger building on North Street.
The building is the old North Street School, said police Chief Tom Sansone.
The reason for the move, he said, is primarily to give the department more space.
“We’ve bween trying to move since before I was chief,” he said.
“Sky Bank left and donated the building to the city a few years ago,” he said.
He said the city got state grants about a year ago — $800,000 for remodeling the interior of the building and $800,000 for upgrading the roof and the garage.
Sansone said there is no set date for the move.
