Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today for the Aug. 27 Barry Manilow concert with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra at the Covelli Centre.
Tickets will be available online at Manilow.com, CovelliCentre.com and Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000 and at the Covelli Centre box office.
Ticket prices are $87.50, $67.50 and $47.50.
The 8 p.m. Aug. 27 performance in Youngstown is part of a four-city tour for Manilow and the orchestra. About 6,000 tickets are available for the show.
Attempted robbery
YOUNGSTOWN
Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a construction worker at a job site on the city’s East Side.
According to reports, the worker was at a site on the corner of Albert Street and Republic Avenue at 4:15 p.m. Thursday when he was approached by a man who pulled out a gun and demanded his money.
The worker told police he turned his pockets out to prove he had no money and the would-be thief fired one shot in his direction, damaging some equipment, then ran off. Police have not made any arrest.

The Big Reach Center of Hope has joined the Ampleharvest.org Campaign, providing a connection between local gardeners and food pantries.
According to a press release, this would allow food banks to collect excess fresh fruits and vegetables from local gardeners rather than stockpiling with canned goods.
Local food banks register their location and contact information on the Ampleharvest website making them a much easier find.

The Niles City School District will have meetings Thursday for public input on the rules and regulations of each federal entitlement program and the expenditure of entitlement funds.
The meetings will be in the board room of the school district’s administrative offices, 10 West St. The meetings will be at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and noon.
Water-quality report

Customers of the Youngstown Water Department were mailed a copy of the Consumer Confidence Report.
Mailing this report to customers is required as part of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act. The report includes information about what is in the wate r the city purchases from the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District.
There are about 65,000 laboratory tests per year performed on 145 contaminants. No violations were found.
The city distributes about 18 million gallons per day through 750 miles of pipelines to residents of Youngstown, Austintown, Boardman, Canfield city and township, Liberty, Mineral Ridge, Girard and North Jackson. or a copy of the report, contact the water department at 330-742-8765.
Summer day camp

Associated Neighborhood Centers is offering an eight-week summer day camp for children age 6 to 13, beginning Monday at the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road.
