Event proceeds benefit Special Olympics

The Mahoning County DD Special Olympics will host a fundraiser at Inner Circle Pizza of Poland June 16.

The event will feature celebrity bartenders Jack Gruber, a board member of the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities and a Special Olympics basketball coach, and Larry Duck, superintendent of the County Disabilities Board from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Gruber and Duck have designated Mahoning County DD Special Olympics as the recipient of all proceeds from the fundraising event.

Inner Circle Pizza-Poland has a celebrity bartender night once a month. Bar tips are given to the guest bartender’s choice of a local charity.

The event will also include a gift basket raffle and a 50/50 raffle. There will be seven valuable gift baskets with sports themes for each.

They include Cleveland Indians, YSU, Ohio State, Cleveland Browns, Scrappers and Akron Aeros baseball, Phantoms hockey and Poland sports baskets. Items include numerous game tickets, autographed balls, sportswear and more.

The event is being promoted as a family event to support Special Olympics athletes.

Special Olympics offers sports training and athletic competition in basketball, bowling, softball, swimming, volleyball and track and field.
