Supplies ferried to hundreds stranded by MT floods

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Emergency workers are ferrying supplies to more than 300 people cut off by flooding that is overwhelming Montana towns.

Roads washed out by the raging Musselshell River left people today with no way to get out of a sprawling rural neighborhood near the central Montana town of Roundup.

Volunteer firefighter Cassie Degner says stranded residents are calling in grocery orders that are being delivered by boat.

The National Weather Service reports declining river levels in most of the state. But weekend rain is projected to cause flood waters to linger in heavy-hit areas like Roundup.

Gov. Brian Schweitzer has estimated flooding has caused more than $8.6 million in damage across the state since the end of May.
