Ousted Ohio college president tells allies to call Gov. Kasich

NELSONVILLE, Ohio (AP) — The ousted president of an Ohio technical college wants Gov. John Kasich to intervene.

Trustees voted 7-1 to place Hocking College President Ron Erickson on indefinite paid leave June 4 and are working to end his contract.

The Logan Daily News reports Erickson has asked supporters to encourage Kasich to push out trustees who don’t support Erickson. Trustee Mike Brooks, who cast the lone yes vote, told the paper he also wants other trustees removed.

Trustees who ousted the president say they have the college’s best interests at heart.

Erickson’s predecessor, John Light, stepped down after 41 years in 2009 after an audit found he, his wife and two others from the southern Ohio school illegally spent more than $28,000 in taxpayer funds.
