BOARDMAN

An 18-year-old Youngs-town man has been arrested and charged with two Boardman burglaries.

Freeman Bankston V, of Ravenwood Avenue, was arrested about 3 p.m. Wednesday and faces charges of receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony burglary, according to court documents.

Boardman police said an officer stopped Bankston for a traffic violation and realized the car matched a vehicle description related to recent burglaries.

A search of the vehicle turned up a large metal chisel, suspected marijuana grinder, pink cellphone, red pouch with jewelry, a bullet, an envelope stuffed with jewelry and a red pouch with jewelry, including a gold “President’s Award for Education Excellence” pin, reports state.

Police said the property is believed to have been taken from a May 10 burglary on Terrace Drive, where electronics valued at about $1,200 were taken and a May 20 burglary on Beechwood Drive, where electronics and jewelry valued at about $6,700 were reported stolen.

Bankston was taken to Mahoning County jail in lieu of $13,750 bond.
