Bicyclist hit
YOUNGSTOWN
An accident this afternoon on Glenwood Avenue sent a bicyclist to the hospital. According to WFMJ TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, the bike was struck by a Cadillac just a few blocks north of Midlothian Boulevard. Ambulance crews worked to stabilize the victim’s condition. The cyclist’s name as unavailable Thursday evening.
Driver hits 2
WARREN
Lavia L. Broadnax, 27, of Linden Avenue Southeast, pleaded innocent in Warren Municipal Court to two counts of felonious assault after an argument near her home in which Broadnax is accused of driving her car into two people. Police said about 20 males and females were arguing at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses said Broadnax drove her car into a woman and a vehicle that were in front of 904 E. Market St., then drove her car back to Broadnax’s house.
Police observed fresh damage to Broadnax’s car and paint matching that of the car that was damaged.
Broadnax’s car hit a 20-year-old woman in her thigh, but the victim did not seek medical care. A juvenile inside the car did not suffer an injury, police said.
Hammer attack

Police arrested a 60-year-old township man accused of using a hammer to smash his former employer’s truck. Joseph I. Avers was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for vandalism, police said. Avers is accused of causing nearly $1,000 in damage to a truck owned by Energy Wise, a company on Youngstown-Poland Road, around May 15, reports state. Avers resigned from the company May 11 of his own accord, a company employee told police in reports.
Mosquito Safety Day

The township police department, in conjunction with Mosquito Lake Marina, will have its ninth annual Safety Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mosquito Lake State Park. The day includes fire- and police-department vehicles and representatives, fingerprinting of children and a medical helicopter.
Booths from safety organizations such as the Youngstown Bomb Squad, Trumbull County Sheriff Dive Team, Trumbull County Hazardous Materials team, Birds in Flight Sanctuary and U.S. Coast Guard will be on display.
Free boat rides will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bicycles and other prizes will be given away.
Fox channel change
YOUNGSTOWN
The channel position for WYFX-Fox TV in Youngstown has been changed to 19. It is no longer 62 or 17/62. The change, which is part of the digital television changeover, will affect only people who watch the channel over the air with an antenna.
Motorcycle fun run
WARREN
Someplace Safe Inc., a Trumbull County domestic violence agency, will receive the proceeds from the third annual motorcycle fun run organized by the Ladies of the Highway Riders. Sign-ups for the Saturday event begin at 10 a.m. at Dennison’s Deelight, 2185 Parkman Road. The first bike will leave at noon. Cost is $10 for single riders and $15 for pairs. The event will include dinner, door prizes, trophies, a D.J. and 50/50 and home-computer raffles.
Crushed by truck

A truck driver suffered serious but nonlife-threatening injuries Wednesday morning at the Kmart Warehouse Distribution facility, 541 Perkins Jones Road. The man, whose identity was not being released, suffered pelvis fractures and was transported to St. Joseph Health Center, said Bazetta Township Fire Chief Dennis Lewis. The man was walking near a loading dock when another driver backed a trailer into him, crushing him between the trailer and the dock.

Newton Falls Public Library Board of Trustees will have a special meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at 204 S. Canal St. Newton in the Palmer Meeting Room to amend the resolution requesting the Trumbull County auditor to certify the current assessed tax valuation.
