Cycle-show host to ride moped around Lake Erie
Staff report
Larry Ward, host of “The 2-Wheel Power Hour” motorcycle radio show on WKBN-AM 570, will attempt to drive a souped-up 2009 Tomos 50cc moped around Lake Erie as part of a race that will raise money for charity.
Ward’s bike, which he has dubbed Slugo, has a top speed of 41 mph. He will set off from Wellington, Ohio, at 6 a.m. Saturday and make a counter-clockwise loop around Lake Erie — a distance of about 650 miles. Ward hopes to finish the circuit within 24 hours.
Funds raised by the race, dubbed the Lake Erie Loop, will benefit the Aluminum Cans for Burned Kids Foundation, which provides services for pediatric burn patients using money raised from the donation of discarded aluminum cans.

Ward is soliciting donations for the charity and will write donors’ names on Slugo.
