BOARDMAN

A township woman pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a weekend incident that left her boyfriend dead.

Billie Lee Mohr, 32, was in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman on Tuesday morning and entered her pleas to charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving without a license. She was released on $5,000 bond.

Police said that Mohr’s boyfriend, John Marr, 52, of Struthers, was visiting her residence at Chelsea Court Apartments on South Avenue about 5 p.m. Sunday when Mohr tried to drive Marr’s vehicle. Reports state that Mohr drove over Marr, who later died from his injuries at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Mohr told police at the time of the accident she had taken three or four Xanax, a prescription drug that treats anxiety, and she failed a field sobriety test, which led to the OVI charge, according to reports.

When police arrived at the apartments later to tell Mohr that Marr had died, Mohr “began to hallucinate” and “voluntarily admitted in front of police that she had used heroin earlier on the date,” reports state. Mohr was taken to St. Elizabeth for treatment and released Monday.

Boardman police said Marr’s death is still under investigation, and more charges against Mohr could be filed.

“When you get into a death investigation, intent plays a big role, and any other offenses committed during the death play a role,” said Detective Glenn Patton.

Mahoning County Deputy Coroner Joseph S. Ohr said the cause of Marr’s death was blunt-force injuries to the chest and pelvis based on an autopsy performed Tuesday.
