Spelling detour: Ohio sign misspells North

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (AP) — A new, high-profile road sign over an Ohio interstate highway entrance will be replaced, because a contractor’s spelling went off the road.

The word “north” appears prominently at the top of the sign misspelled “N-O-R-H-T.”

Amanda Lee of the Ohio Department of Transportation assured The Plain Dealer newspaper of Cleveland that the error in suburban Strongsville would be addressed as quickly as possible. The contractor will cover the cost of making and putting up a new sign.

Until it’s ready, crews planned to conceal the misspelling on the marker along eastbound state Route 82 at Interstate 71.
