Relays for LIfe in Austintown, Lordstown/Newton Falls on Friday


The Austintown and Lordstown/Newton Falls American Cancer Society Relays for Life are from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Austintown Relay at Austintown Fitch High School begins with an opening ceremony and survivor lap at 6 p.m. Also on Friday at 9:30 p.m. is a luminary ceremony. Saturday events include a Fight Back ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Jenifer Weaver, Relay chairwoman, said about 350 people and 27 teams are registered to participate.

The Lordstown/Newton Falls Relay at Newton Falls High School on state Route 534 also begins at 6 p.m. Friday with an opening ceremony and survivor lap. A luminary ceremony is around 9 p.m. said Mandy Campbell, event chairwoman.

Saturday activities include a family fun day from noon to 2 p.m.; a scavenger hunt at 3 a.m. and closing ceremony and celebration lap at about 5 p.m. Sixteen 16 teams are registered to participate.
