Portrait of former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland to be unveiled
COLUMBUS (AP) — A new painting will give former Gov. Ted Strickland a permanent place within the halls of the Ohio Statehouse.
The portrait of the Democrat who left office earlier this year will be unveiled this afternoon at the state Capitol in Columbus. A news release says the 3 p.m. ceremony will include Strickland and wife Frances and former U.S. senator and astronaut John Glenn.
The Strickland painting was created by Toledo artist Leslie Adams and will take its place within the Statehouse joining the portraits of all of Ohio’s previous governors. Ohio Historical Society executive director Burt Logan says the paintings allow people to connect with the state leaders in a way that’s different than learning about them in text.
