Investigation into fatal crash continues

BOARDMAN
Witnesses at the scene of Sunday’s deadly accident at an apartment complex said neighbors had to lift the back end of the car to pull the victim from beneath it.
One witness, 53, who asked not to be identified, said he was visiting a neighbor when he heard screaming and screeching tires from down the road.
When he turned the corner, all he saw were two legs sticking out from underneath a red Ford Mustang. The victim, identified as 52-year-old John Marr of Struthers, was visiting his girlfriend, Billie Mohr, 32, a resident of Chelsea Court Apartments on South Avenue. About 5 p.m., Mohr got into Marr’s Mustang and attempted to drive it.
“He was trying to stop her from driving his car,” the witness said.
She drove over him and dragged his body several feet down the road just before running up a slight embankment and hitting a tree, witnesses said.
When the neighbors pulled Marr’s body from under the car, he was still alive but severely injured, a witness said.
He died later at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Police said they have filed only traffic charges so far against Mohr, including operating a vehicle while impaired and driving without a license.
But pending an investigation, there likely will be more criminal charges filed as well, police said.
Sgt. John Allsopp of the Boardman Police Department said Mohr was given emergency admission to St. Elizabeth’s at 10 p.m. to receive a medical evaluation.
“We thought she would benefit from that,” Allsopp said, but would not elaborate on the type of medical evaluation. The hospital released her at 5:15 a.m. Monday.
Witnesses said Mohr walked around the complex Monday and asked neighbors if they were mad at her for the incident.
“They’re going to bury your boyfriend,” the 53-year-old witness recalled telling Mohr. “And you’re asking us if we’re mad?”
