Boehner to talk up GOP jobs plan in his Ohio district
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) — House Speaker John Boehner will talk about a Republican jobs plan during a speech in his Ohio district.
The House leader is promoting a GOP proposal that includes lower taxes and reduced regulations for job-creating businesses. His office tells media outlets Boehner will discuss the plan later today when he speaks to the Middletown Rotary Club in southwest Ohio.
Boehner has said that Friday’s employment report showed the economy still isn’t creating enough jobs. Unemployment inched up to 9.1 percent from 9 percent, and employers added the fewest new workers in eight months.
The speaker says employers are holding back because of what he calls government “over-taxing, over-regulating, and over-spending.”
