Warren school board to name new schools superintendent Tuesday

WARREN — The Warren Board of Education selected a superintendent today from among the four finalists and will announce the choice Tuesday, board president Kevin Stringer said.

The board has been having closed-door meetings for several weeks to discuss candidates.

On May 24, the board reduced its choices from six to four — Kelly Brooks Washington, a coordinator for Akron city schools; Thomas Gay, president and CEO of School Groups in Michigan; Bruce Thomas, assistant and regional superintendent for Marietta city schools; and Clifford Wallace, dean of academic affairs for Bryant and Stratton College.

The board needed to notify the three candidates not selected Monday afternoon before it could release the name of the successful candidate, Stringer said.

Negotiations on salary will continue later into this week, Stringer added.
