Fire departments search river for Ohio toddler

ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Volunteer fire departments are still searching for a 2-year-old boy who went missing at an Ohio river in which his 3-year-old half-brother drowned over the weekend.

The boys’ family, from Zanesville, and camping near a dam at Muskingum River State Park, about 50 miles east of Columbus.

A Muskingum County sheriff’s official says there was no organized effort today. But operations director Kim Hambel says a few volunteer fire departments were looking again by boat. Searchers used boats, divers and planes over the weekend.

Authorities say the family awoke Saturday morning and realized 2-year-old Anthony Joseph Tullius and 3-year-old Ayden Leroy Cecil were gone. Searchers found the older boy’s body about a mile south of a spillway at Ellis Dam.

Police dogs tracked the boys’ scents to the water’s edge.
