“MTV MOVIE AWARDS” (9 p.m., MTV and VH1): Maybe if the Oscars incorporated offbeat categories such as “best kiss” and “best villain,” they would be more fun to watch. For now, though, it’s up to this crazy bash to push the envelope and let the stars go wild. Serving as host of the 20th annual gala is Jason Sudeikis (“Saturday Night Live”), who will usher viewers through all the madness, including presentations by, among others, Ryan Reynolds, Steve Carrell, Cameron Diaz, Selena Gomez and Jesse Eisenberg.

“The Next Food Network Star” (9 p.m., Food Network): “The Next Food Network Star” is a tough gig. You not only have to cook well, you have to look good doing it. A new season has 15 chefs competing to win their own series on the cable channel.

“The Glades” (10 p.m., A&E): As Season 2 of “The Glades” opens, another corpse turns up in Jim Longworth’s (Matt Passmore) allegedly sleepy town. At this rate, he’ll never get to work on his golf game.

“Teen Wolf” (11 p.m., MTV): Will “Teen Wolf’ generate some animal magnetism? It’s a dark remake of the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie about a high-school kid (Tyler Posey) whose life becomes complicated when he turns into a werewolf.
