The Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown, reports that August A. Angel of Cornersburg and Alan R. Burton of Leavittsburg have been named the 2011 recipients of the Meritorious Service Award at the Ohio Council of Deliberation.

The Council gathered on June 4.

The prestigious award goes to those who have given of themselves and served the Scottish Rite above and beyond the call of duty.

Both men have served in many capacities in the Scottish Rite, which entitles them to the award.

Angel, past master of Wick Lodge 481, has served the York Rite Bodies as presiding officer and is a recipient of the York Cross of Honour.

Burton is a past master of Newton Falls Lodge No. 462 and has served the York Rite Bodies as presiding officer.

They will receive certificates, caps and jewels at the next session of the Council, in June 2012 in Akron.

Jesse L. Boles Jr. and William C. Boles received their certificates, caps and jewels at this year’s session in Independence.
