In March, Lloyd students celebrated an evening with Dad, where the groups constructed bug catchers together. The school’s PTA decided that it was Mom’s turn on May 4, when the organization celebrated its “Mom’s Night” with food and crafts.
Principal Tom Lenton was near the entrance of the school to welcome families to the event.
“I think Mom’s Night is a really neat event and we love welcoming moms and other special females to come visit us at Lloyd,” Lenton shared.
Lloyd students and their special guests enjoyed dinner together and then got started on making jewelry, provided by the PTA. The students had the choice to decorate a set of earrings, a necklace or a bracelet to give to their moms.
“My favorite part of tonight was picking out which necklace my mom would like and what would look good on her,” Nicholas Dolak said of the craft.
“I made sure to give him plenty of hints to make sure,” Dolak’s mom, Jennifer, said with a laugh.
Sophia DiRenzo enjoyed the night of doing something a bit different with her mom.
“We usually are watching movies together or playing catch. This isn’t what we normally do, but I’m having a lot of fun,” DiRenzo shared.
PTA secretary and event organizer Amy Buxbaum understood the power of a special night with mom.
“I can see how special it is for our students to have that undivided attention with their moms. Whether it’s busy schedules or siblings, this great alone time can be rare. We’re happy to offer it.”
