The Spring Youth Festival at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Boardman offered local residents the chance to explore and enjoy the Building Blocks Preschool.

The May 14 event was planned by St. Mark’s Building Blocks Preschool director Kara Continenza.

“We wanted to offer a fun event for our preschool students and also welcome in some new faces today. We have games, songs and story times, face painting and crafts to share with the guests,” Continenza shared.

Many families whose students already attend the preschool visited the facility for a fun Saturday morning. The preschool students used the event as a fun break from their end-of-the-year preparations, where they have been reviewing the alphabet, numbers, colors and shapes to prepare for kindergarten.

Guests were free to tour the preschool, but most of the activity was in the church’s food hall, where carnival games like ring toss, basketball shoot-out, and ski-ball were set up. Free hot dogs, drinks and chips were served and the preschool parents held a bake sale to raise money for the school.

Angela Nespeca brought her son, Santino, to the event, although at 1 year old, he’s too young to attend the preschool.

“His older sister goes here and Santino will be attending too when that time comes. In my opinion, it’s one of the best preschools around,” Nespeca shared.

Guests Trinity, Rocky, and Gina Sewrek do not attend St. Mark’s Church or the preschool, but saw the activity and decided to stop in.

“It’s a very nice facility and I can see they love to have fun. Now, I’ll definitely consider Building Blocks when I’m putting Rocky and Gina in preschool,” mom Trinity Sewrek said after exploring the event.
