McDonald boys win Division III track title

COLUMBUS

Thanks to stellar performances from seniors Matthias Tayala and Miles Dunlap, the McDonald High boys track team won its first Division III state title in 12 years, outdistancing Anna 44-34 on Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Dunlap won the 300-meter hurdles, finished second in the 110 hurdles and third in the 200 to pile up 24 points after Tayala scored 20 on Friday with victories in the shot put and discus.

McDonald's only other state track title came in 1999. It's the second straight year a Trumbull County team won a state title -- Warren Harding finished first in Division I last year.
