Glenwood track season features broken records

The Boardman Glenwood Middle School track team concluded a successful season of broken records and first-place finishes.

The boys’ 4X200 relay consisting of Darnell Walton, Jake Wagner, Dan Liptak and Myles Harris won the Mahoning County meet in Austintown May 16 and accomplished a school record of 1:44.5.

The boys’ 4X100 relay also placed first in the county meet and throughout the season placed first or second in every meet. AJ Pantaleo ran the 110-meter and 200-meter hurdles and placed first or second in all of the dual meets and in the invitationals.

David Larkin specialized in the field events, placing first and third at the Beaver Local Invitational with a personal-best of 16-10 in long jump and 5-2 in high jump.

The girls’ team won the Beaver Local Invitational, took second place overall in the Waldo Ward Relay Meet, was second in the Austintown Invitational and placed third at the county meet.

Regan O’Hara broke two school records this year. O’Hara’s new school records are in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:36 and also in the 800 meters with a time of 2:39. She placed first in the 1600 in all but one time this season.

Hope Landers never finished worse than second in any meet in both the 100-meter and 200-meter hurdles. Arianna Cuevas won the 100-meter dash at the county meet. She placed in the top three for this race the entire season.

Leading point scorers on the seventh and eighth-grade team for the girls were O’Hara, Landers and Cuevas. The leading point scorers for the boys’ team were Larkin, Pantaleo, Wagner, Liptak and Harris.
