Camp Woodside offers free food, fun

Camp Woodside will enter its third year with a new time from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday beginning June 13 until July 29 for all students who have completed kindergarten to sixth grade.

A different Austintown church will partner with the program staff of Lampstand each week to provide fun enrichment activities and serve a free kids’ lunch.

This year’s theme is titled “Journey Around the World” and will allow children to visit a new region each week. Children will also have the opportunity to learn life skills in the community Container Garden, as well as, enjoy a Lunchtime Artist Series of local guests artists.

The camp is free and offers a fun and safe environment for kids and is interdenominational in nature. It was started by the Greater Austintown Ministerial Association and is directed by Lampstand Fellowship.

The lunches are provided through Neighborhood Ministries in Youngstown and paid for through the USDA and overseen by the Ohio Department of Education. Lunch is available for any child ages 1-18, regardless of participation of Camp Woodside.
