Spring was rainiest ever in Cincy
WILMINGTON, Ohio (AP) — What weather forecasters consider spring is now over, and it was the wettest one on record for Cincinnati.
The city got soaked with 24.78 inches of rain during March, April and May, what the National Weather Service calls the “meteorological spring.” It was the most rain ever for the period, in records going back to 1871. The weather service says rain was recorded in Cincinnati on most days during the three months.
The region’s heavy rainfall led to flooding along the Ohio River. A riverside high school was forced to relocate twice and horses were moved out of a racetrack near the water.
The weather service office in Wilmington in southwest Ohio says Columbus and Dayton each had their third rainiest spring on record, also with measurable rainfall most days.
