POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
May 24
Burglary: To a second-floor apartment in the 6400 block of Diana Drive. Among items stolen were two DVD players, a flat-screen TV and a stir-fry machine.
May 25
Arrest: Police investigating a suspicious vehicle in the 3100 block of Highland Avenue arrested 33-year-old Jason A. Richmond of Canton upon learning he was wanted by Muskingum County, Ohio, authorities on a warrant.
Criminal damaging: Part of a driveway in the 2400 block of Edgewater Drive sustained damage.
May 26
Assaults: Two people reported having been assaulted in the 2200 block of Country Lane, though neither was injured.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a home in the 8400 block of Struthers Road and damaged property. Also, about 50 feet of copper wiring was missing.
BOARDMAN
May 28
Criminal damaging: Two fence posts were damaged in the 6800 block of Lockwood Boulevard.
Identity fraud: A Canfield woman who had reported her wallet stolen at a Doral Drive store later discovered that while trying to buy a car, a credit check revealed someone was using her identification to try to open a line of credit.
Assault: An employee of a Market Street restaurant alleged a co-worker choked the accuser and threatened to kill him regarding a comment made.
Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was passed at Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.
Theft: A Southern Boulevard woman said a family member stole a bottle of whiskey from her basement.
Drugs: Police pulled over 43-year-old Dwayne Pixley, 78 Lemans Drive, Boardman, and charged him with possession of marijuana and crack cocaine after saying Pixley removed a bag of suspected marijuana from his pocket. At the same time, a small bag containing a substance that tested positive for cocaine fell from his pocket, a report said.
Robbery: A worker for Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road, told police three people had stolen purses and that, when confronted, one of the three threatened to strike the employee with a high-heeled shoe.
Theft: Jacklyn M. Brace, 51, of 352 Wyndclift Place, Youngstown, was charged with stealing six men’s shirts from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.
Arrest: Authorities arrested 27-year-old Jessica Keene at her residence, 137 Shadyside Drive, Boardman, on felony warrants from Stark County charging her with theft and identity fraud.
Arrest: A traffic stop on East Midlothian Boulevard led to 25-year-old Brandon C. Vaughn’s arrest. Vaughn, of 734 Mauro Circle SE, Warren, was wanted on one count of falsification.
Theft: Jerome E. Gibson, 58, of 723 Parkview Ave., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of three packs of men’s undergarments from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Burglary: Two MP3 players, five pieces of jewelry and personal papers were among property stolen from a room at a Market Street motel someone had entered.
Theft: Tammy Jo Mason, 38, of 872 Newgarden Ave., Salem, was charged, accused of taking $220 worth of shoes and clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. Mason also faced a felony drug charge when, police said, she had more than 200 pills in her purse that had been prescribed to someone else.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant apartment in the 5000 block of Aravesta Avenue through the front door. Earlier, three boys were seen breaking windows at the residence.
Arrest: Police on East Midlothian Boulevard stopped 49-year-old Timothy Dell, 3163 Mosier Place, Youngstown, then took him into custody on a probation-violation charge.
Recovered property: Roughly $3,200 worth of jewelry was recovered that had been stolen several days earlier from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.
May 29
Arrest: Officers responding to a burglary at a township motel charged 42-year-old Jennifer K. Monroe, 6110 Market St., Boardman, with obstructing official business after saying Monroe intentionally provided false information pertaining to a suspect in the case.
Criminal mischief: A Stoney Creek Court man saw that someone had removed the gas caps from his two trucks.
Criminal damaging: Several small dents were found in a vehicle in the 200 block of Washington Boulevard.
May 30
Arrest: A traffic stop on East Midlothian Boulevard resulted in the arrest of 40-year-old Latonya Childers, 168 Mumford Drive, Youngstown, who was wanted on several traffic-related offenses.
Harassment: A Glenwood Avenue woman accused her daughter of making a series of unwanted calls to her.
Theft: Sixty prescription pills were stolen from a home in the 3900 block of Arden Boulevard.
Theft: A woman in her mid-30s stole $15 from a tip jar at Five Guys Famous Burgers, 7322 Market St.
Burglary/assault: A woman told police her former boyfriend forced his way into her Arlene Avenue residence via the front door, then bit her boyfriend’s right hand.
Harassment: A Beechwood Drive woman reported getting four unwanted calls, including one that was sexual in nature.
May 31
Theft: At least one bicycle was stolen from a residence in the 20 block of Carter Circle.
Harassment: An employee of a Boardman-Canfield Road long-term care center reported a caller made an implied threat regarding the status of one of the residents in the facility.
Attempted auto theft: Someone in the 300 block of Marlyn Place ransacked a 2005 Hyundai Elantra, apparently in an effort to steal the car.
Motorcycle theft: A 1987 Harley Davidson motorcycle was stolen in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: Police charged Mallory E. Burkett, 25, of 5 E. Grant St., East Palestine, with the crime. She is accused of removing three children’s bathing suits from Walmart.
Misuse of a credit card: A township man who had lost his wallet at the Southern Park Mall learned his credit/debit card was used without permission to withdraw $200 from an automated-teller machine.
