Police: Pa. man, 28, solicited 12-year-old girl for sex

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A suburban Philadelphia man is behind bars after authorities say he contact a 12-year-old girl through Facebook and tried to set up a tryst in a park.

Investigators say they arrested 28-year-old Richard Whitehead on May 24 in a densely wooded park where he allegedly arranged to meet the girl.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said a woman complained to police that a man had contacted her daughter online. Authorities say one of the girl’s friends soon began to hear from Whitehead after she posted her phone number on the first girl’s page.

Detectives met the Sellersville man at the park after investigators witnessed a text message conversation during which Whitehead allegedly set up the encounter.

Whitehead is jailed on $500,000 bail.
