OSHP seizes pills during traffic stop


BOWLING GREEN — A Dayton man faces felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 219 illegal prescription pills, valued at nearly $2,000, during a traffic stop Tuesday in Wood County.

According to a patrol press release, troopers stopped a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu for a marked lanes violation on Interstate 75 at 1:40 p.m. Criminal indicators were observed and a Toledo DEA drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable-cause search revealed 100 Vicodin and 119 Percocet tablets in the trunk.

The driver, Donelle S. Northern, 22, was charged with two-counts of possession of narcotics, both third-degree felonies, and two-counts of trafficking in narcotics, both fourth-degree felonies.

Northern was placed in the Wood County Jail. If convicted, he could face up to 13 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.
