Oakhill workers await cooling unit
youngstown
Mahoning County employees at Oakhill Renaissance Place offices have no air conditioning to keep them cool in the heat.
Bob Bush, director of the Job and Family Services Agency, said the building is getting a new unit, but workers were unable to pour a concrete pad for it because of rain. The pad is poured now, he said, but workers still are installing the massive unit.
There are 246 workers in the building, which houses JFS and Child Support Enforcement. “We went and bought large commercial fans to circulate air,” Bush said, adding that employees are taking it well. “Employees are commenting, ‘It is what it is,’” he said.
He said it will be two more weeks before the air conditioning is running.
