Glaciers win Icebreaker tournament

The Ohio Glaciers, a 12U baseball team, remained unbeaten on the season with the championship of the Icebreaker Classic, a Nations Baseball state qualifier.

Their record is 24-0.

The Glaciers defeated the Central Ohio Select team 6-1 run and went 5-0 in the tournament.

Michael Turner (Champion), a shortstop, had eight hits for the tournament, including three doubles, and six RBIs. Chris Lewis (Canfield), a first baseman, went 7 for 10 in the tournament, hitting three home runs, a triple and double, and he drove in five runs. Catcher Joe Delucia (Canfield) went 5 for 8 in the tournament and had two RBIs, while Zach Tinkey (Canfield) also had five hits, including a triple and double. Lucas Nasonti (Champion) also had five hits and recorded five stolen bases.

Also, Michael McDonough (Columbiana) struck out five in three innings of relief in the championship game.

Other members of the team were Joe DeLucia, Ethan Kalina, Joey Machuga and Anthony Vross, all of Canfield, and Michael Turner of Champion.
