Softball team wins district title

The Austintown Kalra Orthodonics 9-10 fastpitch softball team recently defeated Jackson-Milton Jones Tire 11-1 in four innings to win the Ohio Girls Softball Organization district championship.

Kalra Orthodonics is 27-3 on the season and advances to the state tournament.

Ashley Fuller was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts in the championship game. Gia DiRenzo and Gia DiFabio each had three RBIs. Kaitlyn Sciortino had three hits and Erin Murphy had two hits. Kayla Kelty added a double, while Sydney Ferguson and Ashley Mickey each drove in a run.

Ryleigh Morgan hit a single and Alli Dilts blasted a triple. Courtney Schwind rallied in the outfield with an outstanding catch in right field.

Coaches of the team are Deb Fuller, Karen Kozbial, Mike Sciortino and Sam Kozbial.
